2018, Performative Duration Sculpture
An examination on death as a part of the life cycle, and how one might prepare for it as we would for any other life event. In preparing for this seven and one half hour endurance action of being still, I began to wonder if today’s overstimulated multi-tasking world is a result of our avoiding the event of death? Embalmed in honey and sea salt, I lay still under an unfinished  hand-embroidered quilt (because we are never truly ready for death when it comes; there are always unfinished bits of our lives left behind) and recorded the sounds of my breath and heartbeat which denounced the finality of the gesture.
